The True (Unknown) Nature And Reality Of The Scriptures: If you had an original copy of the Gospels, you could use them as a catalyst to achieve an Enlightened and Anointed State of Mind — prevailing over self, and overcoming the division between you and your Heavenly Father. If you had an original copy of the Gospels and used them as the authors intended them to be used, at this moment you could have been Restored to the Edenic Kingdom — and having overcome even death, you would dwell with your elder brother Jesus. And if you are a sincere seeker — whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim — after you understand the true spiritual value and reality of the Original Gospels, I will tell you how to get possession of a copy of the Original Gospels. Why is this important? Because these sacred writings contain invaluable essential wisdom and knowledge that is not available anywhere else in this world.
The greatest error of the Gentiles was made when they attached their religion to the Old Testament of the Jews — portraying the Jews as the forerunner of the Church. In the Homilies of his disciple Clement, the Apostle Peter is quoted as saying: “Neither, therefore, are the Hebrews condemned on account of their ignorance of Jesus, by reason of Him who has concealed Him, if, doing the things commanded by Moses, they do not hate Him whom they do not know. Neither are those from among the Gentiles condemned, who know not Moses on account of Him who hath concealed him, provided that these also, doing the things spoken by Jesus, do not hate Him whom they do not know.” Which provokes the question: Who concealed Jesus from the Jews? And concealed Moses from the Gentiles? The answer is The Laws of God. By design, Judaism and Christianity were not only supposed to be separate entities, but their very systems of religion are drawn from totally different paths. And what Peter is correctly stating is that by divine design, they are not only supposed to be separate — but when Christians judge Jews, they lose access to their own covenanted path. While it is true that the Gospels are superior to the Old Testament — it is also true that when the Gentile Church connected itself to the Jews and aligned themselves with the Old Testament, they undermined and suspended their own New Covenant which is founded upon a very different systematic path than is the Old Covenant. And this is why Paul warns: “Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either” (Rom 11:17-21 NIV). Paul portrays the Essene, Ebionite Nazirenes as a “remnant” (Rom 11:5) that is representative of a “cultivated olive tree” that the Gentiles are dependent upon to be grafted into. Yet, the Church of Rome rejected what Paul portrayed as the “cultivated olive tree”. In contradistinction to the fact that it was from the Essene Ebionite Nazirene “cultivated olive” source that the New Covenant was drawn from. But with the Church’s adoption of the Old Testament scriptures that Paul correctly portrayed as the “letter that killeth” (2 Cor 3:6) which was comprised of “Jewish fables” (Titus 1:14), that totally undermined the spiritual foundation of the Gentile Church. And it was this alignment with the Old Testament that became a defilement and abandonment of the New Covenant. Further, if salvation was by Grace, then why did Paul warn the Gentiles that if they judge the Jews they should “…be afraid” — and because of their arrogance, God “…will not spare you either”. The bottom line is that the Jews are not — and never were — the Chosen People. And when rightly understood, like the people personified by dogs and swine who cannot receive what is Holy, the Jews are used as symbols that personify what not to be — because as the dogs and swine, the Jews cannot receive the Holy Divine Manna of the Kingdom.
The foregoing provokes the question: Why were the original Gospels written? In the same way that Theologian Albert Schweitzer suggested that each person’s perception of Jesus is a reflection of their own beliefs (see A Confrontation With Reality) — and Peter is quoted by his disciple Clement as stating the same truth in relation to what each person sees in the scriptures (quoting from Order Of Inquiry): . “…For the Scriptures say all manner of things, that no one of those who inquire ungratefully may find the truth, but simply what he wishes to find”. Which means that each person who opens the scriptures will only see what they already believe to be true. Yet, Peter warns that the disciple must seek out and learn the correct meaning of the scriptures ONLY from the Shepherd and True Prophet. Which means that By Design, the scriptures are a reflection of self — interpreted in accord with the readers already defined beliefs — and by design, everyone is supposed to perceive and find their own predetermined beliefs in the pages of the scriptures — believing that the scriptures confirm what they already believe. And it is this personal vision of the scriptures that enables them to begin to mature and evolve the individual believer.
Using scriptures as a catalyst to bring about an Enlightened Mind was for the most part foreign to the Gentiles. In the case of Mithraism which was portrayed as the universal religion of the empire, no written narratives or theology from the religion survive today, because they did not use writings for the same reason and purpose as the disciples and followers of Jesus. As a Mystery religion, Mithraism relied upon a system of teachers and initiation into what they called the seven levels of instruction. And while Judaism was also an ancient Mystery Religion, it used teacher/rabbis to reveal the inner spiritual meaning of the Torah and associated scriptures. And, when rightly understood with respect to the systems being very different, there is absolutely no difference between the Old and New Testaments — as stated in the words of the Apostle Peter as quoted in the Homilies of his disciple Clement where he explained: “Moreover, if any one has been thought worthy to recognize both as preaching one doctrine, that man has been counted rich in God, understanding both the old things as new in time, and the new things as old.” If a Jew had arrived at a condition of spiritual maturity and enlightenment, they would gaze upon the Gospels and conclude that these scriptures are truly the fulfillment of the spiritual objectives of the Torah. And to both Jew and Christian the words of Peter quoted in the Homilies of Clement confirm the foregoing where Peter is quoted as stating:“For on this account Jesus is concealed from the Jews, who have taken Moses as their teacher, and Moses is hidden from those who have believed Jesus. For, there being one teaching by both, God accepts him who has believed either of these” (see Things Christians Never Tell Jews About The New Testament). If the Laws of God inhibited the Jews from understanding the Gospels — and these same Laws inhibited the Christians from understanding the Torah — then both Jews and Christians should re-evaluate many long-held beliefs. And if both Old and New present the same exact message, only those who have been “…thought worthy to recognize both as preaching one doctrine” can rightly be portrayed as understanding their own religious teachings (see The Final Temple And The Primary Lie Of Judaism). What is allegorically set forth in the Old Testament, must be brought about and fulfilled within the body and mind of the sincere seeker as the body itself is transformed into the Living Consecrated Temple as personified in the Old Testament. Therefore, the Spiritual Meaning that has been concealed in the allegory of the written word is exactly the same as the Gospels — with the Gospels being written in order to alleviate the need for a rabbi or teacher.
The True Miracle of the Gospels is in their ability to be used as a Spiritual Catalyst which employs allegorical symbols used in the process of Anamnesis to supply the necessary Divine Manna that enables the seeker/disciple to attain an Enlightened and Anointed (Messiah/Christ) state of mind — a condition of mind that ultimately initiates the subsequent stages of birth that restores the lost prodigal son to the Edenic Kingdom which is man’s true Source of Being. In the same way that in the Torah the Children of Israel had to first be released from a state of slavery — Egypt portrays a condition of“bondage” — and the simple objective of the written word of the Gospels is to free the seeker/disciple from the bondage and shackles of this world. In the Torah the Children of Israel had to travail 40 years in the (spiritual) wilderness — being nourished only by “manna from heaven”. In their original condition the Gospels contained important spiritual teachings and concepts that prepared the seeker/disciple to employ the process of Anamnesis to receive the Divine Manna of the Kingdom. In the Greek language this higher Knowledge is rendered differently than the knowledge of man — thereby differentiating the difference between the wisdom and knowledge of man — and in the Greek language this very different form of Knowledge is portrayed as Gnosis. And when rightly understood, there exists words and realties that cannot be redefined by man. Therefore, Gnosis is a word that is beyond man’s ability to redefine — and it indicates Spiritual Knowledge revealed directly to man by God. What is portrayed in the Greek word Gnosis, cannot be written in a book. It cannot be taught by one man to another. Gnosis is not at all an alternative historical tradition that was suppressed by the Church or any other group. Gnosis has nothing to do with the wisdom of this world. It is impossible to study Gnosis in a school, college or university. The Gospel of Thomas portrays this world as dwelling in a state of abject poverty, because the wisdom of this world is devoid of the essential elements of what can be portrayed as Higher Spiritual Knowledge — the Divine Manna of the Kingdom — or, in the Greek language what is portrayed as Gnosis. One of the primary purposes and objectives of the Gospels was to employ the process of Anamnesis as a means to nourish the mind of the seeker/disciple by the Divine Manna of the Kingdom while they are in their transition stage of travailing in the spiritual wilderness of TheWay. In the same way that while in the wilderness the Children of Israel were nourished by the manna from heaven, the true seeker is nourished by the Divine Manna of the Kingdom — both of which in the Greek language is portrayed as Gnosis. Under the heading of Gnosticism, the Encyclopedia Britannica states: “Among the majority of the followers of the movement, ‘Gnosis’ was understood not as meaning ‘knowledge’ or ‘understanding’, in our sense of the word, but ‘revelation’. These little Gnostic sects and groups all lived in the conviction that they possessed a secret and mysterious knowledge, in no way accessible to those outside, which was not to be proved or propagated, but believed in by the initiated, and anxiously guarded as a secret. This knowledge of theirs was not based on reflection, on scientific inquiry and proof, but on revelation. It was derived directly from the times of primitive Christianity, from the Savior himself and from his disciples and friends, with whom they claimed to be connected by a secret tradition, or else from later prophets, of whom many sects boasted. It was laid down in wonderful mystic writings, which were in the possession of the various circles”. Those Christians who had prepared themselves to receive the Higher Knowledge imparted directly to them by the Logos, must be understood as the Christians who Paul portrayed as having gone beyond the “milk” of the Gospel, and were able to receive the “solid food” from Spirit — i.e., “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit” (1 Cor 2:10 KJV).
Regarding these two groups of Christians — i.e., the faith-based entry-level immature Christians who could only be given what Paul called the “testimony” of Christ (see Animal-Soul) which the Church Father Origen defined as being “…preached in the Churches …for the simpleminded and for the ears of the common crowd who are led on to live better lives by their belief” (see Origen, Contra Celsum) — and the spiritually mature Christians who were no longer in need of the “milk” of the Gospel intended to nourish “babes in Christ”, Smith and Wace’s Dictionary of Christian Biography states: “We have no reason to think that the earliest Gnostics intended to found sects separated from the Church and called after their own names. Their disciples were to be Christians, elevated above the rest as acquainted with deeper mysteries, and called Gnostikoi because possessed of a Gnosis superior to the simple faith of the multitude… They also boasted to be in possession of genuine apostolical traditions, deriving their doctrines, some from St. Paul, others from St. Peter, and others again from Judas, Thomas, Philip, and Matthew. In addition moreover, to [this] secret doctrine which they professed to have received by oral tradition, they appealed also to alleged writings of the apostles themselves or their disciples”. Which, while ignored by the faith-based Christians, is confirmed in the ignored words of Jesus when he was asked by his disciples why he ONLY spoke to the multitudes in parables: “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding” (Mark 4:11-12 NIV).
After reading the foregoing where the biblical authors warn that it is impossible for a man of a “natural” human consciousness to read the literal text of the scriptures and discern the higher truth and understand the inner spiritual meaning of the written word, every SINCERE Christian should want to know why Paul warned that it was impossible for the baptized and confirmed Christians who he personally taught, would reject the higher knowledge of the soul and the Mysteries of the Kingdom as utter “foolishness”? This is not a reality that the intelligent and conscientious seeker can just skim over and ignore. In fact, it is one of those immutable red lines that have been drawn in the sands of life. It is in fact parallel to the statement of Jesus with respect to the parable of the Sower and the Seed where it is stated: If you don’t understand this parable, it will remain impossible for you to understand ANY parable — or enigma of scripture and all of Life. To the degree that believers, clergy and critics alike have spent their lives studying the scriptures — and because they failed to heed these words presented in the scriptures — they have never been able to evolve their thinking and knowledge beyond an infantile level of comprehension.
Further, that the body of Bible readers are warned that whatever is written in the text possesses a deeper unseen meaning that is incomprehensible from a “natural” human perspective, also simply skipped over and ignored by the vast majority of faith-based believers. Which is why Paul warns that you cannot simply read the written word of the scriptures and discern the higher truth of the Gospel — even portraying the literal text of the scriptures as the “letter that killeth [and] Jewish folktales” (see 2 Cor 3:6; Titus 1:14). Why? Why did Paul portray the written text in this manner? Because the written text is an allegorical cloak that preserves and conceals the inner unseen meaning that only those with the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and the comprehension to understand, will be able to discern the true meaning of the scriptures. Yet, the vast majority of Christians throughout history have chosen to totally ignore this warning — to the degree that the Christian world has come to embody the reality portrayed in the very words of Jesus when he was asked why he only spoke to the multitudes in parables, and stated: “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding” (Mark 4:11-12 NIV). Which reality of imposed deafness, blindness and barrier to understanding prompted the Wycliffe Bible Commentary to write that: “…the initiate was instructed in the esoteric teaching… which was not revealed to outsiders… The mystery of the kingdom in its ultimate development is the full-orbed message of the Gospel (Rom 16:25-26). The purpose of parables was to instruct the initiates without revealing the items of instruction to the ones who were without. This is in keeping with the Biblical principle that spiritual understanding is restricted to those who have become spiritual…” With the far-reaching implications embodied in the reality that “…spiritual understanding is restricted to those who have become spiritual…”.
What is clear is the fact that neither Jesus or Paul could speak plainly to the people they taught. Jesus went as far as stating that the “…secret of the kingdom of God” only belonged to his select few disciples who had left home totally abandoned the ways of this world — which embodied the meaning and condition of mind portrayed in the word Ebionite, meaning the “poor-ones” — and followed him daily. Paul portrayed the faith-based Christians as “babes in Christ” who were only capable of receiving the “milk” of the Gospel because they were still “natural” organic men who was said to be of an “animal-soul” level of spiritual immaturity (see Animal-Soul). Which provokes the question: What makes the modern person — and even the modern believer — any different than the baptized and confirmed believers who was portrayed as having received all the gifts of the spirit who Paul personally instructed and taught? Sadly, the only answer is: Absolutely Nothing! In the same way that Paul warned that because of the immature condition of mind that he portrayed as still being of a “natural” (human) consciousness, that the Christians where were only capable of receiving the “milk” of the Gospel would reject the higher knowledge of the Gospel as utter “foolishness” if he was to dare to even speak of man’s higher soul and spiritual reality. And this inability of those who Paul portrayed as “natural” organic man to comprehend the higher knowledge of the soul and spirit was referenced by the 2nd century Bishop Clement of Alexandria in the profound statement: “The Lord… allowed us to communicate to those Divine Mysteries, and of that holy light, to those who are able to receive them. He did not certainly disclose to the many what did not belong to the many; but to the few to whom He knew that they belonged, who were capable of receiving and being molded according to them”.
That the higher spiritual knowledge and meaning of the Gospel could only be received by those who had properly purified and prepared themselves to receive this higher knowledge, was presented in the words of the Church Father Origen when he explained: “Whoever has clean hands, and therefore lifts up holy hands to God… let him come to us… Whoever is pure, not only from all defilement, but from what are regarded as lesser transgressions, let him be boldly initiated into the mysteries of Jesus, which properly are made known only to the holy and the pure… To those who have been purified in heart, he whose soul has for a long time, been conscious of no evil, especially since he yielded himself to the healing of the Word, let such a one hear the doctrines which were spoken in private by Jesus to his genuine disciples”. Which provokes the all-important question: How does a person become spiritual? The long ignored answer is that there are no shortcuts or dispensations — and that the only means to fulfill the requirement which brings about the transformation of the seeker is for them to live and sincerely embrace the Original Gospel Teachings in word, thought, desire and deed. With the bottom line being that to Possess the Truth, one must surrender and themselves become Possessed by the Truth — and the Truth, alone. And until the seeker/disciple begins to bring this transformative condition about in their daily lives, they will remain deaf, dumb and blind to both the true meaning of the scriptures, as well as the higher reality of the soul and the Mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Which is confirmed by the Paul in the words: “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught” (1 Cor 2:6 KJV). Throughout all of Christian history, the body of believers who Paul portrayed as too “carnal” to receive and understand the higher knowledge of the spirit, have been unable to understand the Paul’s words when he wrote: “But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away” (1 Cor 13:10 KJV). The dilemma is that if a Christian fails to go beyond the milk of the gospel, “that which is perfect” can never come. The carnal believer never embraces the words: “That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim 3:17 KJV).
When rightly understood, there is no such thing as what is ignorantly portrayed as Gnostic scriptures today. By virtue of the very nature of Higher Spiritual Knowledge, no scripture or spiritual writing composed in the words of man can literally contain the Divine Manna — or, in the Greek language, Gnosis. The scriptures act as a catalyst that enables the seeker/disciple to fulfill the prophesy: “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me” (John 6:45 NKJ). The scriptures themselves are not the Divine Manna or Words of God — but when used in accord with the right mindset and lifestyle, enable the symbols and catalysts used in the scriptures to develop those areas of mind that permit the seeker/disciple to begin to tap into the Inner Source of Truth and Knowledge that is impossible to express in the words and languages of mankind. As stated in the article in the Encyclopedia Britannica under the heading, The History of Christian Mysticism, where it reads: “Although the essence of mysticism is the sense of contact with the transcendent, mysticism in the history of Christianity should not be understood merely in terms of special ecstatic experiences but as part of a religious process lived out within the context of the Christian community. From this perspective mysticism played a vital part in the early church. Early Christianity was a religion of the spirit that expressed itself in the heightening and enlargement of human consciousness”. One of the primary objectives and purposes of the Gospels was to bring about the necessary deepening and expansion of mind that enabled the seeker/disciple through the process of Anamnesis, to begin to tap into this Inner Source of Divine Knowledge and learn directly from the Indwelling Logos/Son of God that was portrayed as The True Prophet — quoting with respect to this ONE TEACHER that the followers of Jesus were commanded to seek out exclusively, Peter taught that he is “…within the mind of every one of us, but in those who have no desire of the knowledge of God and His righteousness, He is inoperative; but He works in those who seek after that which is profitable to their souls, and kindles in them the light of knowledge. Wherefore seek Him first of all; and if you do not find Him, expect not that you shall learn anything from any other”. And what this means is that the scriptures are not themselves the Word of God — but rather, the means by which the seeker/disciple can attain the necessary Spiritual Maturity to gain entrance into the Inner Kingdom and receive the Divine Manna directly from the Indwelling Logos/Son of God. But this is possible only when the scriptures are used for their intended purpose. And this is allegorically portrayed in the Torah in the teaching that Moses (the Law) could not lead the Children of Israel across the Jordan and into the Promised Land — which could only be accomplished by Joshua (a.k.a. Yeshua or Jesus). Allegorically, neither Joshua in the Torah or Yeshua/Jesus in the Gospels portrayed an actual historical person — but rather, a condition of mind that enabled the seeker/disciple to receive the Spiritual Anointing and the most Pure Spiritual Nourishment or Knowledge/Manna which is allegorically portrayed as the Body and Blood of Messiah/Christ. In the parable of TheCall to the Wedding Feast (see http://TheCall.Nazirene.org ), those who come to TheCall must have put on the Wedding Garment of Purity, in order to sit at the Table of the Lord and receive the Bread of the Kingdom (see New Covenant Sacraments ).
Few even understand the foundation of The New Covenant — i.e., “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them” (Heb 8:10-11 NKJ). Yet, the Christian world has rejected the very foundation of the New Covenant by virtue of countless teachers, Bible Commentaries, a mass of Bible interpretations and the adoption of man-made dogma that inhibits the believer’s spiritual advancement. Thus, the reality of the words of Isaiah have enveloped the modern faith-based believers in the quagmire of their own self-imposed spiritual shackles: “For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed” (Isa 9:6). And when rightly understood, the resounding truth is that the modern believers have chosen tradition and man-made dogma over the Knowledge of the Original Teachings associated with the New Covenant — i.e., “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…” (Hos 4:6). Christians dwell in a parallel Diaspora of abject spiritual ignorance, because they use and read the scriptures in the same way that the Pharisees did when Jesus condemned them as blind guides for throwing away the Key of Knowledge. And the fact that the Pharisees had thrown away what Jesus called the Key of Knowledge, and attempted to read the scriptures without first bringing about the necessary spiritual transformation and this opening and enlightenment of the mind, is why Jesus portrayed them as the offspring of the Devil — i.e., “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:43-44 NKJ). Thus, what the Gospels state is that in the same way that the Pharisees could not hear and understand the words of Jesus, modern Christians have chosen to shackle themselves to this same blindness and inability to understand the teachings in the Gosples. The fact that modern Christians read the scriptures in the same exact way as the Pharisees who Jesus accused of leading the people in the wrong direction, means that the modern Christians are no different than the Jews.
In the same way that carnal Jews are blind to the spiritual meaning of the Torah, so too are carnal Christians blind to the spiritual meaning of the Gospels. Yet, like the Jews, the Gentiles were in dire need of receiving scriptures that had the capacity to evolve and raise them up. And in the same way that the most sacred scriptures such as the Books of Enoch were never given into the hands of the Pharisees by the Essenes, neither was the most spiritual of Gospels given into the hands of the Gentiles (see Spiritual Gospels Never Given To The Gentiles). Therefore, when secondary (dumbed) down versions of the scriptures were given into the hands of the Gentiles, they (the Gentiles) continued to remain shackled by their pagan beliefs — and, shackled by their carnal mindset that the Bible itself warns causes a person to be blind and incapable of comprehending the spiritual meaning of the scriptures, they maintained that the Ebionite Nazirenes who walked and talked with Jesus daily, were “too Jewish to understand the teachings of Jesus”. As pagan sun-worshipers, they saw something entirely different in the scriptures and Gospel message than did the people of the New Covenant who bore the title Spiritual Israel. The truth and the facts of the matter is very clearly expressed in the words of Prof. Bart D. Ehrman in his book, The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture, where he warns us that: “…theological disputes, specifically disputes over Christology, prompted Christian scribes to alter the words of scripture in order to make them more serviceable for the polemical task. Scribes modified their manuscripts to make them more patently ‘orthodox’ and less susceptible to ‘abuse’ by the opponents of orthodoxy” — which orthodoxy was to bring the text of the Bible into conformity with the doctrines and tenets of the Church of the Roman Emperor Constantine. With regard to the condition of the Bible we presently use: In his book The Text of the New Testament, Dr. Vincent Taylor writes that “The manuscripts of the New Testament preserve traces of two kinds of dogmatic alterations: those which involve the elimination or alteration of what was regarded as doctrinally unacceptable or inconvenient, and those which introduce into the Scriptures proof for a favorite theological tenet or practice”. To put Dr. Taylor’s words in perspective: What Dr. Taylor is stating is that, whatever doctrine Jesus taught which the Church of the Roman Empire did not agree with, there is overwhelming evidence that the church corrupters removed what was objectionable from their perspective. In like manner, whatever doctrines the Church regarded as being true, regardless of whether that belief was supported in the scriptures, the Church inserted this belief into the Bible in an attempt to make it authentic. What Dr. Taylor is warning us is there is good reason to conclude that our scriptures have been rewritten by the Church of Constantine. Now the question that is being posed here is whether you believe the theological tenets of Rome, or the disciples of Christ — because the two are not the same (see The Original Teachings Have Nothing In Common With Church Dogma ). Those among the Gentiles who were able to make spiritual progress were often portrayed as Gnostics, because they placed great emphasis on the ability of to be nourished by the Divine Manna while dwelling in the spiritual wilderness of TheWay.
An Important Truth is contained in the Epistle of Peter to James where it is stated: “Hear me, brethren and fellow-servants. If we should give the books to all indiscriminately, and they should be corrupted by any daring men, or be perverted by interpretations, as you have heard that some have already done, it will remain even for those who really seek the truth, always to wander in error. Wherefore it is better that they should be with us, and that we should communicate them with all the fore-mentioned care to those who wish to live piously, and to save others.” Those Gentiles outside of the original Ebionite/Nazirene core of disciples and followers of Jesus, were quick to corrupt all the copies of the scriptures that were given to them. And this fact is confirmed to us by Dr. F. H. Scrivener where he writes that: “In the second century we have seen too many instances of attempts to tamper with the text of Scripture, some merely injudicious, others positively dishonest”. Scrivener states that “it is no less true to fact than paradoxical in sound, that the worst corruptions to which the New Testament has ever been subjected, originated within 100 years after it was composed: and that Irenaeus and the African Fathers, and the whole Western, with a portion of the Syrian Church” used inferior manuscripts (F.H.Scrivener, Introduction to the Criticism of the New Testament). Dean Burgon quotes Gaius (AD175-200) who speaks of the source of corruptions that survive in the early papyri: “The Divine Scriptures these heretics have audaciously corrupted. Laying violent hands upon them, under pretense of correcting them” (Burgon, The Revision Revised, p. 323). Eusebius (Eccleastical History), citing the second century Church Father Clement of Alexandria: “The worst corruptions to which the New Testament has ever been subjected originated within one hundred years after it was composed.” In the words of Colwell (What is the Best New Testament Text?, p.119) “The first two centuries witnessed the creations of the large number of variations known to scholars today. In the manuscripts of the New Testament most variations, I believe, were made deliberately.” G.D. Kilpatrick (Atticism and the Text of the Greek New Testament, pp 125-131): “Deliberate changes in all text types appear to antedate A.D. 200..as distinct from errors… all categories of deliberate alteration… are present in both groups. Tatian is the last author of make deliberate changes. The vast majority of deliberate changes were older then A.D. 200. They came into being in the period A.D. 50-200.”
An Inconvenient Reality: It can be easily understood why the Ebionite/Nazirene disciples of Jesus not only did not give the Greek converts who edited and corrupted the text of their scriptures, but the Ebionite/Nazirenes also withheld the most spiritual and important scriptures to be preserved only in their care. Thus, Peter writes to James: “Knowing, my brother, your eager desire after that which is for the advantage of us all, I beg and beseech you not to communicate to any one of the Gentiles the books of my preachings which I sent to you, nor to any one of our own tribe before trial; but if any one has been proved and found worthy, then to commit them to him, after the manner in which Moses delivered his books to the Seventy who succeeded to his chair. Wherefore also the fruit of that caution appears even till now. For his countrymen keep the same rule of monarchy and polity everywhere, being unable in any way to think otherwise, or to be led out of the way of the much-indicating Scriptures. For, according to the rule delivered to them, they endeavor to correct the discordances of the Scriptures, if any one, haply not knowing the traditions, is confounded at the various utterances of the prophets. Wherefore they charge no one to teach, unless he has first learned how the Scriptures must be used. And thus they have amongst them one God, one law, one hope” (see Epistle Of Peter And James).
When Peter wrote to Jacob/James that “…they endeavor to correct the discordances of the Scriptures, if any one, haply not knowing the traditions, is confounded at the various utterances of the prophets” — the discordances of the scriptures which were the historical untruths that were intentionally inserted into the text for an ultra-important reason. And with the removal of these discordances by the scribes of the Gentile Church, the scriptures suffered a loss of their effectiveness in relation to their true purpose and objective. But just as important is the statement that “…Wherefore they charge no one to teach, unless he has first learned how the Scriptures must be used”. And herein lies the problem: The modern Christian is absolutely clueless as to “…how the Scriptures must be used”!!! And thus, because of this state of abject ignorance in conjunction with the editing and removal of what is portrayed as the discordances and many of the most important original Gospel teachings, the Church has rendered the study of the Gospels virtually worthless. In the words of the Church Father Origen: “Scripture contains an unhistorical element in-woven with the history, in order that the worthlessness of the latter may drive us to seek the spiritual meaning” (Origen quoted under Origen Adamntius; The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics). The authors of the scriptures did not compose historical accounts — but because of the inability of the faith-based believers to comprehend their own higher Soul and Spiritual reality, the authors used a a quasi-historical cloak to allegorically present important teachings and concepts that could not be comprehending by the human organic “natural” level of mind. And what Peter portrays as the “discordances” of the scriptures — what Origen correctly portrays as the “…unhistorical element in-woven with the history” — not only inhibits the person from reading the scriptures literally/historically — but in most instances presents an ultra-important spiritual truth. But when the faith-based Gentile Church attempted to correct these discordances and unhistorical events, they ignorantly inhibited the process of mental and spiritual development which was and is the primary purpose the scriptures were written. Thereby causing them to remain permanently bound to what the Church Father Origen portrayed as the fate of the immature Christian when he stated that the elementary “testimony” of Christ was “…preached in the Churches …for the simpleminded and for the ears of the common crowd who are led on to live better lives by their belief” (see Origen, Contra Celsum). Leading a better life was the beginning of the Gospel teachings — evolving and becoming spiritually transformed was the primary objective.
To the people who Paul had taught the Gospel message, Paul confessed that “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ” (1 Cor 3:1) — yet, he also stated that “However, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nothing” (1 Cor 2:6). In their original condition and format, the scriptures were designed to evolve those who Paul portrays as being of an organic “natural” human consciousness (see Animal-Soul), into the “spiritually mature/perfect” transformed consciousness that enables the seeker/disciple to receive the Divine Manna directly form the Indwelling Logos/Son of God. And with respect to the true purpose and objective of the scriptures, the statement of Peter’s that is not at all understood today — i.e, “…Wherefore they charge no one to teach, unless he has first learned how the Scriptures must be used” — is parallel to a statement of Peter in the Homilies of his disciple Clement where Peter is quoted as explaining with respect to a discussion on the nature of the scriptures when Simon Magus stated to Peter:“Then said Simon: ‘You are manifestly avoiding the hearing of the charge from the Scriptures against your God.'” To which Peter then replied: “‘You yourself appear to me to be doing this; for he who avoids the order of inquiry, does not wish a true investigation to be made. Hence I, who proceed in an orderly manner, and wish that the writer should first be considered, am manifestly desirous to walk in a straight path’”.
What, then, the intelligent seeker must ask, is the order of inquiry? In these words are noted the most profound error of both Bible believers as well as the critics today who only perceive what is literally written in the narrative of the written word. Believers see and read the scriptures in the manner predicated by their predefined doctrines of belief, while ignoring the very warning of the scriptures that it is their own perception of the Word that is in error. Simon wants to engage Peter and use the scriptures to prove that the world was created by a lesser god. Peter states that By Design, anyone can prove almost any doctrine by using the scriptures — and therefore, before the scriptures can be understood, the “writer should first be considered” — which means that unless you read the scriptures in accord with their original intended purpose, you render the scriptures worthless. Quoting one of the opening statements above in the heading of this article: “…the scriptures are exactly what the original authors intended them to be”. And if the person fails to first understand “…how the Scriptures must be used”, whatever interpretation they embrace will be in grave error.
